Mike Fletcher has more than 25 years of diversified tax experience, and he has been a state tax specialist since 1989. Mike’s clients consist of companies across a broad spectrum of size and complexity including public companies, large privately held organizations and emerging businesses. He has significant experience with government contractors, construction contractors and real estate developers, financial companies, technology and software based firms, media companies, retailers and traditional manufacturers.
Mike’s years of experience have resulted in a comprehensive knowledge of best tax practices and have led him to be an expert in numerous tax areas. Some of these areas include:
- Development and implementation of state and local tax focused planning strategies
- Resolving state income, franchise, sales/use and unclaimed property audits
- Sales tax refund opportunity identification and implementation
- Property tax strategy development and implementation for several industries
- Negotiation of economic incentive and abatement programs with various state and municipal authorities
- Analysis of taxable presence issues and services income apportionment analysis
- Intercompany transaction planning and analysis to integrate domestic planning with foreign tax planning
- Shared service entity development and implementation to support operational goals and achieve state tax reduction
Prior to joining Argy, Wiltse & Robinson, P.C., Mike was with Wealth and Tax Advisory Services, a tax subsidiary of HSBC. He also spent several years with Arthur Andersen and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mike is frequently asked to speak on technical tax matters. He has presented before The American Trucking Association, The Cement Manufacturers of America Association, The North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants, Tax Executives Institute and Financial Executives Institute.
