Partner-in-Charge
Attest Services,
South Florida

Jesus A. Lago is Partner-in-Charge of Argy, Wiltse & Robinson, P.C. (Argy)’s South Florida Attest Practice where he is responsible for the office’s financial reporting compliance and litigation support services.  Jesus joined Argy in September 2007 after working nearly 25 years in both international and regional Florida CPA firms.

Jesus began his career with Ernst & Young, where he attained the level of manager.  He was involved in auditing medium to large private and public entities and also worked on initial public offerings and fraud investigations.  After seven years in an international firm environment, Jesus joined a local firm in Miami where he obtained experience handling small-to-medium-sized accounting, audit and consulting engagements in an effort to build his practice.

Jesus’ public accounting experience has been directed toward financial statement compliance, including audits and reviews, of public, privately-held, and federally-funded businesses.  He has been involved in numerous public and private offerings and has worked closely with the underwriters and attorneys in an effort to keep his clients’ fees to a minimum.  Jesus has performed due diligence in connection with mergers and acquisitions and has advised clients on the accounting aspects of contemplated transactions.  He has also provided advisory services related to design and implementation of internal control systems, development of business plans, forecasts, and projections.

His extensive auditing and consulting experience has proven valuable in investigations and litigation.  Jesus has been qualified as an expert and has testified at jury trial.  He has assisted law firms, corporations, and individuals in a diverse range of commercial and personal litigation.  Additionally, he has consulted on regulatory matters, including those of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Jesus served on the FICPA Litigation Support Committee and taught a course to CPA’s on the use of trial exhibits.  He was nominated as a member of the FICPA Peer Review Committee, which was responsible for the oversight and acceptance of reports on the quality control policies and procedures of CPA firms in the State of Florida.  He was also a former Treasurer of the Steering Committee for Prevent Blindness of Florida.  As a member of what was formerly known as the Securities and Exchange Commission Practice Section of the AICPA, Jesus was qualified as a concurrent reviewer of financial statements included in a public filing or a registration statement and an expert in SEC Laws and Regulations.
