Mary Karen has over 20 years of professional and industry experience in the areas of government contract accounting, pricing, financial consulting and public accounting. She has worked with companies in virtually every industry, and specifically with significant clients in the government contract industry for over 20 years. She has extensive experience with the Federal Acquisition Regulation, the Cost Accounting Standards and other procurement regulations.
Mary Karen develops and implements numerous direct and indirect cost allocation methodologies for contractors in the electronics, engineering, healthcare, manufacturing, systems integrations, software, hospitality, professional services and higher education. She works with contractors on a wide range of matters related to pricing, proposal preparation and complying with the Truth in Negotiations Act. She helps companies obtain and renew GSA schedule contracts and has extensive experience evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of contractors’ internal controls and self-governance programs. She performs due diligence in Mergers and Acquisitions.
Mary Karen has experience working with higher education institutions and other non-traditional contractors on grants, contracts and regulatory matters. She has performed special investigations and forensic accounting matters that culminated in voluntary disclosures to the Federal Government. She assists both U.S. and foreign contractors in preparing and supporting termination and change orders claims, which includes fact-finding and developing pricing and negotiation strategies.
In addition to her consulting experience, Mary Karen has held key industry positions including General Manager and Director of Sales and Business Development for a national finance and accounting outsourcing company. Mary Karen spent 17 years with a global accounting firm. She led the Washington, D.C. Consulting Group for the regional firm of Beers + Cutler.
