This webinar presents a practical methodology for designing single and multiband impedance-matching networks in order to optimize the antenna efficiency of Virtual Antenna™ surface-mount antennas from Fractus Antennas. These miniature, multipurpose components fit seamlessly on an electronic printed circuit board (PCB) to address all internet of things (IoT) designs. The tiny antenna boosters replace conventional customized antennas for wireless applications, consequently they easily work for any standard or frequency, including narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), LoRa, Sigfox, WiFi, GPS, 4G, 3G, and more, and can even handle multiple standards simultaneously.

The approach uses Cadence® AWR Design Environment® software, including AWR® simulation models to account for the impact of interconnecting transmission lines, impedance-matching network synthesis for matching component parasitics, and  optimization techniques to improve the overall performance. This straightforward technique achieves comparable performance levels in substantially less time.

The webinar will also present electromagnetic (EM) verification results for the antenna booster incorporated in a multiband IoT reference design utilizing switched matching networks to achieve active antenna tuning.
