Application Note Presents New Method for X-Band Bandpass Filter Design

Microwave bandpass filters (BPFs) are a fundamental component used in RF/microwave applications to reduce interference from signals operating at nearby frequencies. A new AWR Design Environment application note presents a straightforward and largely nonmathematical method for designing an edge-coupled, bandpass filter for X-band operations (8.4- 9.3 GHz) with a combination of filter synthesis, closed-form edge-coupled transmission-line models, and electromagnetic (EM) analysis using the AWR Microwave Office circuit simulator and AXIEM method-of-moments (MoM) 3D planar EM solver.
