Balun Design for a Wide Bandwidth L-Band 200 W Power Amplifier

This webinar presents the application and design of a printed Balun suitable for L-band (1350-1850 MHz) push-pull power amplifiers. The design begins with an idealized circuit simulation in Microwave Office using closed-form transmission line models followed by a more rigorous 2.5D planar EM simulation conducted using AXIEM. Measured results and techniques for analyzing the performance of components with non 50 ohm terminations are discussed.

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Dominic FitzPatrick has been involved with the design of solid state RF & Microwave amplifiers for over 30 years. He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Solid State Microwave Physics) from the University of Portsmouth, England, and a PhD from Cardiff University, Wales. He has been the Technical Director of two UK companies designing and manufacturing SSPAs. Since 2010 he has run PoweRFul Microwave, a consultancy specialising in the design and manufacture of solid state microwave amplifiers.
