Phased-Array Antenna Simulation for 5G

This webinar presents a method for incorporating 5G phased-array antenna simulations that are coupled to RF circuit and system simulation via the NI AWR Design Environment platform. This capability, which is made possible using Visual System Simulator™ (VSS) system simulator along with Microwave Office circuit simulation, provides powerful electrical modeling of a phased-array antenna and allows designers to configure the array’s geometry using standard parametrized arrangements or user customized configuration of radiating elements.
This unique functionality lets designers easily analyze and optimize the radiation and beam-steering characteristics of their array. For greater accuracy, the measured or simulated radiation pattern of each individual element can be included, in place of an idealized antenna pattern as this information becomes available. Furthermore, the system simulator can model the antenna/RF feed components interaction to obtain a more realistic performance of the overall system. New capabilities will be highlighted that provide ease of configuration and reduced overhead, as well as shorter design and simulation times.
Steve Tucker is a senior applications consultant at National Instruments, AWR Group where he specializing in system and circuit RF and microwave simulation. Before joining the company in 2009, Steve spent more than 15 years as a technical consultant for Agilent Technologies and 5 years prior to that in a similar role for EEsof. Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Kent, United Kingdom.
