The RF Planner (RFP) wizard module works seamlessly within Visual System Simulator (VSS) system design software to accelerate development of a first-cut radio communications link. It is an essential utility for designers of radio communications systems and cellular or military radio links that enables them to efficiently determine spurious-free dynamic range and bandwidths.
The wizard provides spurious analysis resulting from device nonlinearities as well as cascaded measurements such as noise figure (NF), P1dB, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and IM3.

The RFP design wizard adds system synthesis capabilities to VSS software, enabling designers and system integrators to take a top-down approach to system configuration, component specification, and signal management. Through the RFP guided-system setup and high-level radio-block modeling, designers can investigate various tradeoffs to select the frequency conversion, filtering, and/or necessary component dynamic range needed to achieve the targeted system requirements.
Designers can provide performance requirements to component design and procurement teams based on information determined by system responses obtained with the RFP wizard. The software enables system designers to quickly explore alternative system configurations and component specifications to achieve overall performance goals, taking into consideration factors such as performance/cost tradeoffs and component availability.
